My purpose in life is to create 100% impact on the world, irrespective of circumstances. Let me tell you a story. A frog fell into a bowl of milk. The edge was too high and steep for him to jump out. Not giving up hope he continued to kick, swim and stay afloat. After a couple of hours, he found a hard substance near his feet. He had churned the milk to butter. With the support of the butter, he could jump out of the bowl. He had changed the circumstances with his patience, effort and persistence. 100% impact irrespective of circumstances.

I was in the flour milling business, wherein we had 7% market share of Karnataka. In 1997, we tied up with Captain Cook – DCW Home Products Limited to manufacture Whole wheat Atta. We invested Rs. 1. 5 cr for them, on an assured offtake of 800 MT of Atta/month. They reneged on their commitment and we became sick. To revive the company, we did 3 activities:
Terminated our agreement with Captain Cook and tied up with Annapurna Atta – Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
Learn moreCreated a specialized bakery flour which increased our gross margins from 4% to 14% in a high volume, low margin business. With this we started to break even at 30% capacity utilization.

Learn moreBefore we could complete this transaction. In 2005 KSFC took over our unit, leaving us high and dry. This was a life impacting event for me - something which I had grown and nurtured for 16 years was no longer there to provide for me. Besides I had my family to take care of. Options were to take up a job or to start another venture.
I believed India has tremendous potential and would grow @ 5 – 10% pa. This would generate the need for talent. I decided to build up an expertise in HR. I started People Source Consulting. Focused on recruitment in Banking and Financial Services - an area which I knew well (after all I had spent a lot of time in banks). I spoke to a friend to understand the nuances of recruitment. Got my first mandate from Anand Rathi (where my wife worked) for Sales Executives. Over the next 9 years we expanded into Executive Search and Selection into all domains of Non – IT and IT in India and outside India. Recruitment Process Outsourcing - wherein we manage the entire recruitment process of companies on a outcomes-based payment model. Helping them reduce their recruitment time, cost and effort and improve quality of recruitment. We also consult to SMEs helping them with strategic HR interventions. Mapping and assessing competencies required in building an organization.
